The Architecture of Exclusion: Structural Inequality in a Changing World
The KULMUN Conference is back for its 17th edition! Join us for a week of sharp debate, new committees, and fresh topics in the heart of Leuven.
The KU Leuven Model United Nations Association (KULMUN) is a student-led association driven by a passion for debate, international politics, and connecting diverse people with diverse opinions. We host Belgium’s best and biggest annual Model United Nations conference and are known for our strong academics and engaging social activities that take place in the beautiful hidden gem of the country: Leuven.
This year we are proud to announce our theme: The Architecture of Exclusion: Structural Inequality in a Changing World.
Inequality is rarely accidental. Across the globe, it is built into the laws, institutions, markets, and systems that shape everyday life, determining who has access to opportunity, protection, and a voice in decision-making. In a world transformed by rapid technological change, climate pressures, shifting economic power, and mass migration, these structures are being reinforced in some places and challenged in others. As a result, exclusion now takes many forms: from unequal access to healthcare, education, and justice, to digital divides, discriminatory governance, and the uneven burden of climate change.
The theme invites participants to look beyond individual injustices and examine the systems that sustain them. Delegates will explore how exclusion is designed, maintained, and justified, and challenge the adequacy of existing international frameworks to dismantle it. Crises of various natures will be woven into committee deliberations, pushing Delegates to craft solutions under pressure. How can the international community redesign structures that were never built to include everyone? Who gets a seat at the table when the rules of the world order are written, and who is left outside?
Ready to become a delegate? Applications will open soon on November 15th!
We look forward to welcoming you!
