African Union (AU) in Model UN

The African Union is a continental body of 55 member states, launched in Durban in 2002 as successor to the Organisation of African Unity and based in Addis Ababa. Its supreme organ, the Assembly of Heads of State and Government, decides by consensus or, failing that, by a two-thirds majority. In Model UN, AU committees seat African states, and terrorism in the Sahel and the conflict in Sudan recur on their agendas.
