About the committee

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is a UN agency dedicated to improving children’s lives all over the world. Created in 1946 in the aftermath of World War II to aid children whose lives and futures were at risk, UNICEF’s motto says it all: “for every child.” They are the guardians of the future generation, and their work in education and healthcare is irreplaceable. They span over 190 countries and territories, working to protect the rights and improve the conditions of every child. Their programs and projects are among some of the most diverse in the world, including everything from abuse protection to healthcare and education. UNICEF is also the largest provider of vaccines on Earth. Their mission of reaching every child in need has not wavered since their creation, and we hope to see you join us in fulfilling that mission at PACMUN 2026!

About the committee

Established in 1958, UNOOSA was created to promote the peaceful and sustainable use of outer space for social and economic progress. With over a hundred member states, UNOOSA seeks to ensure equitable access to outer space for the development of all nations. UNOOSA deals with many complex and increasingly important issues, such as the creation of international space law, addressing space debris, managing satellite navigation systems, and mitigating the risk of catastrophic threats through planetary defense systems. In this year’s iteration of PACMUN, the committee will address regulating private sector space companies and ensuring equitable access to outer spaces’ vast resources.

About the committee

Established in 1997, the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) brings together all 193 United Nations member states to confront one of the most pressing issues of security following conflicts: the presence of active land mines and explosive hazards. Unlike most UN bodies, UNMAS works on a case by case basis, providing direct aid to nations in need of support for mitigating explosive threats. UNMAS currently hosts programmes and missions in 19 countries disabling explosives, providing safe ground for UN Peacekeeping Forces to intervene without further risk to human life. In this committee, delegates will be tasked with deciding how to disable explosives and creating lasting peace in war-torn nations. We look forward to fostering engaging debate that leads to collaboration between nations in need of help and those delivering aid with an international commitment to civilian safety. Beneath the Northern Lights of Europe lies the Barents region - and tensions are brewing under the ice. This beautiful but isolated region of the globe is key in everything from ecology to transportation, and as the landscape changes, so do the political implications. Established in 1993, the Barents Euro Arctic Council (BEAC) promotes cross-border cooperation and regional stability by uniting member states and indigenous tribe representatives to tackle dire issues. From infrastructural deficits and a high need for energy systems to public health and the protection of indigenous rights, the pressure to keep the Barents region afloat couldn’t be higher.
