About
Fractured Foundations
Welcome to OAKMUN 2027, the eighth edition of the Oak House School Model United Nations, situated in Barcelona, Spain!
OAKMUN will be held from Wednesday the 10th to Friday the 12th of February. This year’s conference features updated procedure, a new advanced crisis committee and an ever-increasing international diversity. OAKMUN is a cornerstone of Oak House School’s debating program, helping students grow into passionate debaters, inquisitive researchers, and fearless leaders ready to tackle the challenges of our modern world. We are excited to welcome both new and returning schools. The event will be held at Oak House School, Sant Pere Claver 12-18, 08017 Barcelona.
This year’s theme is Fractured Foundations, where we examine an international system that presents a facade of equality but fails to completely implement it, losing the trust of citizens worldwide. Furthermore, delegates will discuss how to reform the UN’s role and responsibilities to better suit the modern political climate. As George Orwell once said “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” The event will spotlight those nations who, since the foundation of the UN, have been treated less equally. Our conference will seek to highlight and promote their momentum and rise in the world order.
At OAKMUN 2027, we believe the strongest tools against conflict and strife are dialogue and diplomacy. For three days of intense academic debate, we invite delegates to step into the shoes of real-world leaders, confront challenges head-on, and prove that just as conflict reshapes and reforms, so too can the systems designed to prevent it.
