About the committee

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations. It has primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security and is composed of 15 member states, including five permanent members with veto power. The Council can investigate disputes, make binding decisions, impose sanctions, and authorize the use of force to maintain or restore peace.
