An Imperial Castle. Around 350 international participants. Three days of diplomacy, career opportunities and unforgettable encounters. BayernMUN 2027 returns for its 16th edition with its most ambitious programme yet, bringing UN and NATO simulations, prominent speakers and workshops with BCG, PwC and the European Commission to historic Nuremberg.

Supported by European Commission and German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) funding, and working in official cooperation with UNCCD, BayernMUN brings international politics and professional opportunities within reach.

Negotiate a crisis in the morning, challenge a diplomat’s perspective in the afternoon and meet your future friends overlooking Nuremberg’s old town that evening. Our programme brings together serious debate, inspiring people and plenty of reasons to keep the conversation going.

a. UN & NATO simulations: diplomacy under pressure 🌍

Take the floor, build your coalition and make your next move count. Experienced chairs, competing national interests and dynamic developments create an immersive environment that rewards preparation, strategic thinking and persuasive diplomacy.

• UN Security Councils: Confront international security challenges and negotiate under the pressure of crisis developments.
• NATO Council: Navigate collective defence, strategic coordination and the difficult business of keeping an alliance united.
• UNCCD: Tackle environmental challenges in a committee developed in official cooperation with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.
• UNEA: Debate environmental governance and the international response to urgent sustainability challenges.
• Opportunities for every experience level: Introductory training helps newcomers find their feet, while demanding committees challenge experienced delegates and those preparing for NMUN.

b. An integrated Press Corps: shape the story 📰

A diplomatic breakthrough. A controversial statement. A crisis nobody saw coming. Our integrated Press Corps brings interviews, reporting and press conferences into the simulation, putting delegates’ decisions under public scrutiny.

• Represent an international media outlet with its own editorial perspective.
• Interview delegates, investigate competing narratives and ask difficult questions at press conferences.
• Report across committees and influence how the conference understands an unfolding crisis.

c. High-profile speakers: join the conversation 🎤

Meet people whose careers have taken them into international negotiations, European policymaking and global security debates. Through keynotes, panels, townhalls and Q&As, explore the challenges facing the UN, EU, NATO and OSCE, and bring your own questions into the discussion.

Our speaker programme includes:

• Martin Kobler: Former UN Special Representative and German ambassador, bringing firsthand experience from diplomacy in some of the world’s most challenging conflict settings.
• Nico Lange: Security expert associated with the Munich Security Conference.
• Anton “Toni” Hofreiter: A prominent voice in German debates on Europe, security and sustainability.
• Michael Roth: Former German Minister of State for Europe and former Chair of the Bundestag’s Foreign Affairs Committee.
• Madina Katter: Obama Foundation Youth Ambassador and Forbes 30 Under 30 honouree.
• European Commission speakers: Including participation from its Spokesperson’s Service, bringing perspectives from inside EU policymaking.

Our official cooperation with UNCCD has already taken BayernMUN youth representatives to UNCCD COP17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, where they gained firsthand experience of an actual UN conference. From preparing positions in a simulation to witnessing international diplomacy in action, their journey shows what this community can make possible.
