Security Beyond War: Rethinking Threats to Peace

BIUMUN 2026 – Berlin Inter-University Model United Nations

BIUMUN 2026 is a Model United Nations conference organised by the UNiGruppe Berlin (of the DGVN) in collaboration with the Hertie School UN Club . As an inter-university conference based in Berlin, BIUMUN brings together students from across Germany and Europe for high-quality debate in an academically rigorous and welcoming setting.

The conference will take place from 29–31 May 2026 and will be hosted at the Free University of Berlin and the Hertie School campus on Friedrichstraße. BIUMUN 2026 is expected to welcome around 100 delegates, offering a medium-sized conference experience that balances substantive debate with strong interaction between delegates and chairs.

Under the overarching theme “Security Beyond War: Rethinking Threats to Peace,” BIUMUN 2026 invites delegates to engage with both traditional and non-traditional security challenges, encouraging critical reflection on how peace and security are defined and addressed in contemporary international politics.

To accommodate different levels of experience, BIUMUN 2026 will feature approximately three committees:

an Expert-level Security Council focusing on high-level security challenges and advanced procedure,

a DISEC committee at an intermediate level, allowing delegates to enhance their debate skills and try out innovative ideas,

and a General Assembly designed for beginners, providing an accessible introduction to UN procedure and multilateral diplomacy.

BIUMUN 2026 is supported by official partner conferences, including BayernMUN and MainMUN, contributing to the conference’s high procedural standards and academic quality. With its central location, experienced organising team, and diverse committee structure, BIUMUN 2026 aims to provide a rewarding and professional MUN experience for delegates of all backgrounds.
