    Topic

Enhancing Women's Political Participation and Leadership: Addressing Structural Barriers and Promoting Gender Equity in Governance

    About the committee

Despite significant progress over the past decades, women continue to face systemic barriers to entering and thriving in political leadership positions. These barriers include entrenched patriarchal norms, gender-based violence in politics, a lack of support networks, and economic constraints that make it more difficult for women to run for office or assume leadership roles. Gender inequality in politics isn't just a women’s issue—it's a societal issue that undermines democratic values and good governance by excluding half the population from decision-making. Women bring unique perspectives on policy areas such as healthcare, family leave, and reproductive rights, yet are still largely excluded from leadership in many political systems.

    About the committee

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is the judicial arm of the United Nations, tasked with resolving legal disputes between states and issuing advisory opinions on questions of international law. In this session, the Court will deliberate on the legal consequences of the construction of a wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. This agenda addresses key issues such as the legality of the wall, the rights of the Palestinian people, and the obligations of states under international law. Delegates will present legal arguments, analyze international treaties, and work toward forming a judicial opinion on one of the most significant cases in the ICJ’s history.
