About

LEAD, INSPIRE, UNITE!

Liceum Artes Liberales Model United Nations (LALMUN) is a high school conference that celebrates diplomacy, leadership, and global vision. Guided by the core ideals of the United Nations, LALMUN empowers students to engage in profound dialogue, challenge assumptions, and build bridges across borders through the art of debate and negotiation. This year’s edition invites delegates to confront the world’s most crucial challenges — from security and sustainability to justice and human rights.

Delegates will immerse themselves in dynamic discussions, and forge meaningful alliances while refining their ability to think critically and act decisively in a global context. At LALMUN, we believe that true diplomacy is not just about speaking — it’s about listening, understanding, and leading with purpose. With an emphasis on engagement, collaboration, and cultural awareness, our conference provides a platform for young people to grow as leaders and changemakers who dare to shape a more united and compassionate world. Join us for an experience that transcends boundaries — where intellect meets inspiration, and every word has an impact on changing the world.

    About the committee

For this year's LALMUN Security Council Committee topic we used the actual wording of the United Nations Security Council meetings, i.e., "The Situation in ..." This is to make the committee a more UN-like experience. The Middle East, and more importantly, Iran, is a very unstable region; hence, any change in the balance of the region will be easily adaptable to this topic. The Situation in Iran changes every second. Just as we (the Presidency) are writing and you (potential ambassadors) are reading this description, the balance of power and stability is altering. From what is now a civil war may soon extend far beyond. The most recent war in Iran was the Iran - Israel war, a.k.a the 12 Day War. Since the sort of ceasefire, the Iranian community has been asking for a change of government through protests. These protests have been repelled and oppressed severely, resulting in quite a lot of human casualties. Moreover, as the expansion plans of Israel and the USA are growing immensely it is no doubt that we will see more and more "action" in the region. This topic also brings back discussions about the future of the Iranian nuclear arsenal and its legality in the international community. The Security Council is the final and highest test of diplomacy and cooperation. By taking on the roles of ambassadors and the leads of their respective delegations, delegates may feel in power, especially the P5 who have special veto power. Furthermore with a custom ROP we hope to make this SC as realistic as possible. So wait no longer delegates and apply apply apply !!!
