A Europe built on cooperation that strengthens, diversity that inspires, and solidarity that unites.🇪🇺🪽
It is our pleasure to announce that the inaugural edition of the International European School’s Model United Nations will take place between the 12th and 15th of February.
Set against the skyline of Poland’s capital, IES Model United Nations is a distinguished gathering that invites students to fruitful discussion, collaboration and debate. Cultivating the values and principles of the European community, our conference sets a foundation for justice, cooperation, and mutual respect.
We firmly attest that this year’s theme: “A Europe built on cooperation that strengthens, diversity that inspires, and solidarity that unites.” is an earnest demonstration of a shared vision; one that expresses a desire to shape history, fostering universal comprehension between cultures, people, and ideals.
OUR THEME:
Among the continents, Europe is said to be an anomaly. As a small appendage of the great Eurasian landmass, it stands tall, mothering future generations of knowledgeable and respectful citizens of the world. It is without a doubt a region that cherishes a storied past, and one that remains a pivotal player in both our textbooks, and during the process of discovering the world.
Efforts to converse with groups of states of specific defense and trade functions, especially after World War II, invoked wider unitary associations but with fundamental differences. Thus, there appeared two opposing units – one centered on the Soviet Union and another on the west. This pattern was altered in the late 1980s with the dissolution of the Soviet bloc, including Poland, the rapprochement between east and west, and the creation of the European Union.
Having recovered from a raging conflict and bequeathed a variety of natural reserves, Europe gradually developed into a world power. The creation of the European Union, followed by its institutional administration in 1993, greatly enhanced economic alliances between many of the continent’s countries. Its continuing achievements were, and still are evidenced by its high standard of living and its successes in science, technology, and the arts.
At the International European School of Warsaw, we cherish a rich history dating back to 2004. Raised to become the future generation of knowledgeable and understanding European citizens, we set forth a theme aligned seamlessly with the values of our school, those of a modern Europe, but most importantly, one close to our hearts, and even closer to the story of our past.
Facing the most pressing challenges of today as citizens of a united Europe, one “built cooperation that strengthens, diversity that inspires, and solidarity that unites,” we must act. There is no better time to refocus our energies than the present – on the threshold of conflict, and in the wake of the international community reaffirming its abhorrence of violence, demonstrating its willingness to act as a collective body.
