Join us in the UNHCR to tackle the increasing risk of mass climate migration. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is a specialized agency that plays a crucial role in protecting and assisting refugees and displaced persons globally, working to ensure their rights, safety, and well-being in times of crisis and displacement. You will be focusing on different ecological regions and addressing the best action plan for climate migration. For this committee to be as realistic for the MUN Refugee Challenge, we will invite institutions and other stakeholders as observers to aid with their expertise. We are excited to see you!

EU-NATO cooperation has been a corner point for exploring European self-sufficiency and external cooperation. In light of increased aggression towards EU borders, discussing our security, strategies of defence and shared intelligence is more vital than ever. Taking into account the mutual defence clause (Within both NATO and Art. 42.7 TEU), the 2% defence policy and the new incorporation of EU states into NATO (Sweden, Finland), we must unite on how the future of European security will look. Will we move towards greater integration, or is a self-sufficient Europe the future?

About the committee

With the world jumping into a new era shaped by modern technologies that no one has ever imagined before to come to fruition, humanity has to be prepared for the worst. As new wars are waging, NATO's enemies will not shy away from using these new technologies for their benefit, hiding behind conventional warfare. This committee's task will be to deal with the new threat and come up with strategies and ideas on how to counter it, "with a commitment to global cooperation, fighting information interference and general dedication to its 75-year long mission" - NATO. We guarantee you tons of fun and a feeling of responsibility for the world and our friendly nations next to the Bodensee at this year's LakeMUN in Konstanz!

About the committee

Experience one of the last colonial conflicts of the 20th century, involving Cold War intrigues, decaying dictatorships and duplicitous conflicts of interest. As most of Africa is enjoying the new wind of independence, Portugal's Estado Novo has been clinging onto its African territories, claiming them as official sovereign Portuguese territory. Will the Security Council be able to preserve international security and prevent the conflict from spilling into neighbouring countries? Join us in this simulation of the 1970 UNSC resolution for a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience!

About the committee

The International Press Corps is a great committee for anyone who loves MUN, journalism, or even just having an opinion. Each delegate represents a news outlet and reports in real time on the events going on in the other committees. We host press conferences, giving delegates the chance to question debating delegates and push them on their positions. Press delegates will also the chance to informally talk to sources, leak information, and keep everyone up to date on the conference goings-on. A variety of outputs are produced, including short form press releases, more detailed features, and video and audio content. It’s a fast paced environment, with something new every session, and is always at the heart of the conference.

Tensions are rising, violence is spreading. Greece has just experienced a military coup more eager than ever to bring Cyprus home. Türkiye will not let this happen, will they? Become a part of the conflict which leaves Cyprus divided to this day. Is Cyprus destined to be frozen in conflict with an uncertain future or can either side achive a more satisfying result? And at what cost? That will all depend on your actions as part of LakeMUN’s crisis committee. Join one of two 10-person cabinets to make your impact felt. Provide your cabinet preference (Greek/Greek Cypriot or Turkish/Turkish Cypriot) when applying and receive your character allocation closer to the explosive start of our LakeMUN 2024 crisis.
