About the committee

This committee will explore colonial actions that have resulted in the displacement of colonial artefacts across the world. Often these articles are of significant cultural importance, and there are many which are held in countries far beyond their borders of origin. Delegates will explore the issues in many of the existing conventions relating to repatriation of artefacts, whilst devising new methods to fairly process ownership claims.

About the committee

This committee will explore the development of different Autonomous Weapons, from the invention of the sea mine, the creation of radar and sonar technologies, and the operation of armed drones used in modern day conflicts. Delegates will be faced with the challenge of creating a shared definition of what constitutes a Lethal Autonomous Weapon and how to regulate their usage, whilst ensuring a globally acceptable regulatory framework is adopted.

About the committee

The Reykjavik Summit was designed as a precautionary meeting between the United States and the Soviet Union, following the collapse of multiple diplomatic talks during the Cold War. Delegates within this committee will embody advisors to the President of the United States and the General-Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, attempting to continue the Strategic Arms Reduction Talks. Whilst seemingly productive over the course of the summit, the talks failed to reach a solution. Delegates will explore the failings of the Reykjavik Summit, and attempt new methods to reach an agreement between the two poles.

This committee will explore one of the most complicated and forgotten crises in geopolitics, continuing for decades. The Horn of Africa is vital to both the continent and the wider world in terms of trade volume and income, as well as population density. Despite this, violence and humanitarian crises have plagued the region, which have been previously inadequately addressed by the international community. Delegates will explore new approaches to address both state and non-state violence, as well as creating new avenues for humanitarian aid.

Delegates in this committee will embody Members of Parliament, navigating through intense party dynamics, cabinet resignations, backbench rebellions, and the pressure of public opinion, whilst balancing the future of the United Kingdom, the constitutional impacts of this decision, and the potential for a general election.
