About

Vox Tua, Actiones Tuae, Futurum TuumNationes Unitae in Manibus Bonis

WinMUN is proud to host our twentieth FREE online conference. Held online monthly, these conferences give delegates anywhere around the world a chance to compete and hone their skills in and GA. WINMUN XX will focus on GA committees to allow delegates to learn the skills required to succeed at a regional and international level. All WINMUN conferences are led by the International Institute for Model UN, an officially filed nonprofit foundation with the goal of bridging the gap between low and high-income countries in competitive Model UN. The Institute works to offer extremely high-quality (averaging over 4/5 stars across MyMUN) conferences for free for delegates, a dynamic experience with committees ranging from beginner learning experiences to challenging expert committees, along with free resources and coaching to anyone in the world for free. WINMUN is the current largest conference series on MyMUN and proudly invites you to our prestigious conference.

    About the committee

The United Nations General Assembly First Committee, commonly referred to as DISEC, is the primary forum within the United Nations General Assembly responsible for addressing issues related to international security, disarmament, and global threats to peace. It serves as a deliberative body where all member states debate topics such as nuclear proliferation, arms control, emerging military technologies, cyber warfare, and the prevention of conflict escalation, operating on the principle of collective security rather than enforcement power. Unlike more authoritative bodies like the Security Council, DISEC does not produce binding resolutions; instead, it generates recommendations, frameworks, and norms that shape international cooperation and influence state behavior over time. Its discussions often involve balancing national sovereignty with global security concerns, making it one of the most politically complex committees, where ideological divides, strategic interests, and geopolitical alliances drive negotiations and resolution-building.
