    About the committee

ECOFIN is the Economic and Financial Committee of the United Nations, a subsidiary organ established to provide expert advice and technical assistance on economic and financial matters to UN member states and the broader UN system. The committee conducts research, analysis, and policy recommendations on global economic trends, financial stability, development finance, and international economic cooperation. ECOFIN serves as a forum for dialogue among economists, financial experts, and government representatives to address challenges related to economic development, poverty reduction, debt sustainability, climate finance, and the integration of sustainable development goals into national economic policies. Through its work, ECOFIN contributes to coordinating UN efforts in economic and financial affairs, supporting member states in achieving sustainable development objectives, and facilitating international cooperation on issues including trade, investment, financial regulation, and the mobilization of resources for development in developing nations and least developed countries.
