It seems that you want to apply to a MUN as a chair. That´s exciting! Before attending it, you are actually required to fill an application.
Choose your conference
Before deciding to which committee you want to be the chair of, you need to know which conference to attend. mymun is here to help! We offer an extensive list of conferences for highschool and university students. Don´t forget to filter the option of “Chair Applications open.”
Start Application

Once you click on the conference you want to attend, you will press the blue button that says “Apply Now”. Several options will display: Delegate, Head Delegate, Faculty Advisory or Chair”. You need to click on “Chair”
Preferences
When choosing a committee for a MUN conference, it's essential to consider both your experience and your interests. If it is your first time as a chair, take into account your previous experiences as delegate. Moreover, take also into account which kind of delegate you want to chair. Meaning with this, would you be able to moderate first timers? or would you be able to moderate hot topics like the ones discussed in NATO or the UNSC?
Questions
In some MUNs, you may be asked to answer several questions. Be prepared to provide details such as your dietary restrictions, accessibility needs, and membership in any MUN societies or clubs. You will likely be asked to list your previous MUN experience, including any awards you have received. Organize this information from the most recent conference to the oldest one. Use the following format for clarity:
- Name of the Conference + Year (Dates) - Committee / Delegation (Award)
Motivation Letter
You have probably done this many times to apply to a university, conference, or job… But here is a list of tips that you may want to follow!
- Start with an engaging introduction that reflects your excitement about the opportunity.
- Highlight any awards or special recognitions you’ve received to demonstrate your competence and dedication.
- Talk about any relevant leadership experiences, both within and outside MUN.
- Explain why you want to be a chair and what you hope to achieve in this role.
- Discuss how you plan to contribute to the conference and the delegates’ experiences.
- Describe how being a chair will help you grow personally and academically.
