    1. The Nuclear Arms Race: Russia & China With delegates from key NATO nations, alongside their allies and foes, DISEC debated and voted on terms for extending the New START denuclearization initiative set to expire in 2021, discussing current disarmament protocols and the positions of key States in the process. Review of the Outer Space Treaty The attention of DISEC delegates was required to reassess the Outer Space Treaty and its terms; the treaty--formally known as the “Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space”--stands not only to prevent war, but also the mass commercialization and incentivization of outer space.

    1. The Uyghurs The Uyghur of the Xinjiang region in China were addressed by UNHRC delegates from African and Middle-East States alongside major geopolitical powers. Regional negotiators from Australia clashed with Russian delegates, as African contingents asserted support for China to offset the potential for direct U.N. involvement. Human Trafficking in Libya The Council focused on the victims of trafficking left by vacuums of power which have been created as a result of the greater, regional conflict. Delegates had to consider migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in developing strategies in accordance with the respective foreign policies of neighboring States.

    1. Mitigating Other Diseases The Medical Council used a combination of state and non-state delegates. At stake for the committee: WHO funding, data sharing, and collaboration between U.N. members in order to continue fighting Malaria, Tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Medical Aid to Rural Regions in Red-designated Countries An emphasis on multilateralism in setting up exchanges across difficult borders enabled delegates to address one of the largest challenges to the arrest of infectious diseases: a lack of information sharing between affected States.
