The authentic WHO experience in Lisbon
The Lisbon-based CMS Model WHO Society will organize the conference in collaboration with the United Nations Association Portugal at the Católica Medical School from 21-22 June 2025 in Lisbon, Portugal.
The CMS Model WHO will bring an accurate simulation of the World Health Assembly to university students worldwide, featuring the official United Nations consensus approach, training workshops, and expert briefings. Our collaboration with UNA Portugal 🇺🇳🇵🇹, a member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), ensures that authentic UN and WHO protocols and Rules of Procedure are adopted.
This year’s conference theme, “Ensuring Health Care Access in Zones of Conflict,” highlights a pressing global issue central to the WHO’s agenda. In conflict zones such as Sudan, the occupied Palestinian territories, Syria, Ukraine, and Yemen, the breakdown of peace and disruption of essential services create immense barriers to accessing health care. As WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus aptly stated, “Peace is the best medicine.” Delegates will engage in debates on critical issues such as addressing medical supply shortages, ensuring health workers' safety in conflict zones, and managing disease outbreaks in displacement camps.
The CMS Model WHO allows students to understand the work of the World Health Organization and the importance of human rights, health advocacy, diplomacy, collaboration, compassion, integrity, a strong sense of ethics, promotion of peace, and professionalism in today's world. Delegates participating in this conference will also have access to online training and resources to help them prepare for the conference.
We look forward to welcoming you in Lisbon 🇵🇹🇺🇳🐟
