Background Guide – World War III

Introduction:

By 2027, the world stands on the brink of humanit. The post-World War II global order, built upon institutions meant to prevent large-scale conflict, has fractured beyond recognition. Private military corporations (PMCs) have eclipsed national armies, non-state actors control critical resources, and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has become paralyzed by competing interests.

Proxy wars have evolved into full-scale battles between mercenary groups, corporations, and extremist factions. Diplomacy has been replaced by corporate deals, while nuclear weapons are no longer the exclusive domain of nation-states. The old world order is crumbling, replaced by a new, chaotic paradigm where power is dictated not by sovereignty, but by financial and military dominance.

This guide outlines the key events that led to this global collapse, detailing the rise of PMCs, the breakdown of international alliances, and the rise of rogue states and terrorist networks. As delegates, you must navigate a world where war is no longer waged between nations alone, but by conglomerates and warlords who have no borders, no laws, and no limits.

I. Timeline of Collapse (2024–2027)

2024: The Proxy War Cascade Wagner’s Arctic Gambit (March): Russian PMC Wagner seizes Norwegian-administered Svalbard under "resource protection" claims, deploying AI-controlled icebreakers. EU imposes sanctions, but NATO is unable to retaliate due to internal divisions.

Al-Qaeda-Taliban Pact (June): Merging forces in Kandahar, the groups declare a "Pan-Islamic Emirate," assassinating Pakistan’s UN ambassador. A China-brokered ceasefire collapses when ISI agents leak Taliban chemical weapons plans.

G4S Cobalt War (September): British PMC G4S and Wagner mercenaries clash in DR Congo over cobalt mines. France deploys Foreign Legion drones, accidentally bombing a Ghanaian peacekeeping convoy.

 2025:

Corporate Armies Ascend Academi’s South China Sea Siege (February): Hired by the U.S., Academi PMCs blockade Vietnamese oil rigs to counter Chinese expansion. Manila protests after Filipino fishermen are caught in the crossfire.

ISIS-Nigeria Caliphate (April): Boko Haram allies with ISIS remnants, capturing Port Harcourt oil terminals. G4S evacuates Shell executives but leaves 2,000 hostages to Wagner-backed militants.

Taliban Cyber-Jihad (August): Hackers funded by Taliban opium profits crash India’s Mumbai stock exchange. UAE brokers secret talks, but Russia blocks UNSC condemnation.

2026:

UNSC Fractures Wagner-Mali Coup (January): Wagner overthrows Mali’s government, installing a puppet regime. French airstrikes destroy Bamako’s water supply, killing 4,000 civilians. Algeria abstains on UN votes.

Academi’s Amazon Operation (March): Academi contractors burn Brazilian rainforests to secure lithium for Tesla. Mexico leads a Latin American coalition to expel them, exposing CIA funding.

ISIS Gulf Pirates (July): ISIS commandeers Emirati oil tankers off Oman. Saudi Arabia hires G4S to secure the Hormuz Strait but accidentally sinks an Iranian warship.

Al-Qaeda’s Bio-Attack (October): Lab leaks confirm Al-Qaeda engineered Smallpox-2 in Yemeni caves. UAE and Israel conduct joint raids, but Russia blocks WHO investigations.

2027:

Global Firestorm Wagner-Nuke Auction (January): Belarus auctions Soviet warheads to Wagner, which transfers them to Mali. China vetoes UNSC intervention, citing "sovereign trade rights."

Taliban-Pakistan Nuclear Crisis (March): Taliban seizes the Kahuta reactor, demanding U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. India mobilizes missiles; China threatens "countermeasures."

G4S Digital Apartheid (May): G4S facial recognition drones in Sri Lanka ethnically profile Tamil refugees. India and Mauritius draft a UNHRC resolution, but the UK blocks it.

Academi’s Manila Massacre (July): Academi AI drones misidentify Filipino protestors as ISIS, killing 600. The International Criminal Court indicts CEO Erik Prince, but the U.S. refuses extradition.

ISIS-Europe Rail Bombings (September): Suicide bombers funded by ISIS-Nigeria oil destroy Eurostar tunnels. France arrests 200 Wagner mercenaries plotting reactor attacks. II.

Faction Overhaul

 Non-State Armies

Al-Qaeda 2.0: Controls Yemeni biolabs and Somali piracy networks. Allied with Taliban cyber units targeting Indian infrastructure.

ISIS Black Markets: Runs oil-smuggling routes from Nigeria to Libya. Uses G4S-issued security passes to infiltrate EU borders.

Wagner Group: Now commands four nuclear warheads via Belarus. Dominates African uranium trade, supplying Iran and North Korea.

Academi: Privatized 30% of U.S. Pacific Fleet operations. Operates AI drone swarms licensed to the Philippines and Taiwan.

G4S Empire: Controls 65% of global rare-earth mining security. Accused of running slave camps in Sri Lanka for EU tech firms.

UN Power Plays

China: Arms the Taliban to counter U.S. influence in Afghanistan. Secretly buys Wagner-nukes for Taiwan invasion contingency.

Russia: Vetoes all UN actions against Wagner. Leaks NATO intel to ISIS via Syrian proxies.

UAE: Uses G4S to militarize Red Sea trade routes. Funds Academi’s Ethiopia base to counter Egyptian influence.

Brazil: Leads the "Global South Bloc" against PMCs. Hosts Al-Qaeda defectors revealing U.S.-Saudi collusion.

France: Deploys the Foreign Legion to reclaim Mali, but Wagner poisons Paris’s water supply with Algerian cyanide. Conclusion: The Privatized Apocalypse

The world order has collapsed into a battlefield where PMCs, rogue states, and terrorist networks dictate global affairs. With nuclear weapons now being auctioned, AI-driven warfare replacing traditional armies, and private corporations waging wars for profit, the lines between war and business have been erased.

As delegates, you face a world where diplomacy is ineffective, alliances are fragile, and every decision has the potential to trigger catastrophic consequences. Will you attempt to dismantle the private military conglomerates ruling the world, or will you join the race for power and survival?
