About event
The world as we know it is rapidly advancing. Political conflicts, past historical events, and mounting human rights threats are all part of today’s international landscape. However, at the centre of these growing risks and the risks of the past are advancements in technology. In 2026, we stand at a tipping point, where the very frameworks of international law, warfare, and human identity are being challenged by artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, and cybernetic integration. The questions we face are no longer just about what is but about what will be: Will sentient algorithms be granted rights? Can an autonomous drone be held accountable for a war crime? How do we govern the digital frontier of the metaverse?
At SCMUN26, we are committed to addressing these issues directly. Our committee topics are designed to challenge delegates and force them to think critically. This conference is not a simulation of the present; it is an exercise in shaping the future. Delegates will be tasked with navigating these uncharted territories, draughting the first treaties for a world that does not yet exist, and proving that diplomacy can evolve as quickly as the technology it seeks to regulate.
