About

⊹₊♕₊⊹Sava Model United Nations Conference dates back to 2018, when its first edition took place, and it belongs to the “Saint Sava” National College.

⊹₊♕₊⊹This conference is one of the most renowned and respected in Romania for the substantial number of participants in each of its editions, and the seriousness and academic quality consistently provided by the annual organizing teams.

⊹₊♕₊⊹Moreover, each year we ensure that the debates are innovative compared to the previous edition, through original committees and structural additions. This year, we are exceptionally glad to be organising this conference thanks to the addition of some committees which were never done before in an MUN in Romania, as well as some of the most intriguing topics Model United Nations conferences have to offer right now.

    Topic

Discussing safeguards for national heritage and state assets in light of mass rioting.

    About the committee

The issue of state asset loss was most recently highlighted by the mass riots seen in Nepal in early September of 2025. The original protests were sparked by the state’s attempt to ban 26 social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X (formerly known as Twitter) and the mass rioting and eventual resignation of the Nepalese Prime minister were kickstarted by the eventual killing of protesters. Around 75 people lost their lives, around 2500 were injured and several hundreds of millions of dollars in property damage had been dealt. These riots were also particularly destructive due to the arsonist acts which some protesters engaged in. Many important buildings such as the libraries at the headquarters of the Nepali Congress and the UML, and the parliament secretariat library were lit ablaze. Additionally, the historic Singha Durbar palace, which housed government offices, was also destroyed in a fire, and the Supreme Court and all its records were also set on fire. While the parliament secretariat's library was saved, other significant historical and government documents were lost in the fires. This is a massive issue, especially given the state of the interim government in Nepal as of now. Cases similar to that of Nepal have been seen historically across the globe, with such incidents occurring everywhere from Syria to India to the USA. Thus, this committee would be tasked with establishing firm and tangible suggestions for safeguards to be put in place by nations to protect both national heritage assets but also state assets such as documents and national institutions.
