Artificial Intelligence and Education for the SDGs

Artificial Intelligence for the Model United Nations

The ReModelUN Trialogue, organized by the University of Geneva SDG Solution Space and the Learning Planet Institute, will take place in Geneva on Monday 7 July 2025 in collaboration with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) World Summit on the Information Society WSIS+20 High-Level Event, and will be held during the same week as ITU’s flagship AI for Good Summit.

This date is the Youth Day of the WSIS+20 High-Level Event, a full day is dedicated to empowering youth voices, fostering intergenerational collaboration, and leveraging the potential of ICTs for sustainable development.

ReModelUN Trialogue is a place to discuss and develop the future of MUN, involving three key stakeholders: youth who are active in MUNs; representatives of International Organisations and their Member States; Experts from Academia and the Private Sector. Hence the concept of a Trialogue, a format that is different from MUN conferences.

As in last year’s successful edition held at ITU, pictured right, the focus is on leveraging responsible artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the experience and outcomes of MUN conferences and to assist UN agencies seeking youth feedback, with the ambitious goal of enabling youth to inspire UN negotiations.

Trialogue Discussion Themes 2025

  1. Youth and WSIS Beyond 2025: Envisioning the Information Society’s Future through MUN Events
  2. Querying UN Archives to Enhance the Quality of MUN Debates
  3. Connecting the MUN Community to its Alumni through Social Media
  4. Improving Hybrid & Online MUN Events with Advances in Information Technology
  5. Linking the MUN Youth Community with Experiential Learning Opportunities like the SDG Olympiad and MOODs
  6. Exploring the MUN Community’s Vision for the Future of Artificial Intelligence in Education
  7. Using Open Data from the United Nations and National Statistical Offices to Enhance MUN Debates
  8. Reinforcing Purpose-Driven Dialogue between MUN and UN Agencies

The ReModelUN Trialogue is in-person and  by invitation only. For all enquiries about participation, please contact shiyi.lu@itu.int.

Note: Participants have to provide their own funding for accommodation and transport to the event. This is not a MUN conference but rather a discussion forum on how we can use AI to improve MUN conferences.
