About the Committee and Agenda The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is the primary international body responsible for promoting and protecting human rights around the world. It works to address human rights violations, recommend actions to member states, and strengthen global mechanisms that ensure dignity, equality, and justice for all individuals. In Justice Diplomas MUN, the UNHRC will deliberate on the agenda: “Strengthening the Protection, Promotion, and Accountability of Human Rights in Conflict and Post-Conflict Regions, while Addressing Emerging Challenges to Privacy and Freedom of Expression in the Digital Age.” This agenda highlights two of the most pressing human rights challenges of the modern world. In conflict and post-conflict regions, civilians often face violence, displacement, and limited access to justice. The international community plays a crucial role in ensuring their safety, supporting refugees, and holding violators accountable under international law. At the same time, the rapid growth of digital technologies has introduced new threats to fundamental rights. Issues such as mass surveillance, misuse of personal data, online censorship, and the spread of digital misinformation have raised serious concerns about privacy and freedom of expression. Through this committee, delegates will examine how international cooperation, legal frameworks, and technological regulations can be strengthened to protect human rights both on the ground and in the digital sphere. Participants will engage in research, debate, negotiation, and resolution drafting to propose practical and balanced solutions to these complex global challenges.
