    About the committee

CCPCJ Agenda Agenda: “Combating Transnational Organized Crime in the Digital Age: Dark Web, Cybercrime, and Emerging Technologies” Description: The digital revolution has reshaped crime as much as it has reshaped society. The rise of the dark web, cryptocurrencies, and encrypted communication platforms has enabled transnational organized crime to flourish beyond traditional borders. Cybercriminals exploit technological loopholes for activities ranging from drug and arms trafficking to money laundering, human trafficking, and even the financing of terrorism. Law enforcement agencies face significant challenges in tracing anonymous networks, while differing national laws and weak international cooperation allow criminals to evade accountability. Moreover, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, deepfakes, and quantum computing present new risks for cyber-enabled crimes. The Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice is tasked with addressing these evolving threats by enhancing global cooperation, strengthening legal frameworks, and balancing law enforcement with the protection of privacy and human rights. The agenda compels states to confront the challenges of cyber-sovereignty, jurisdictional conflicts, and the dual-use nature of technology, making it one of the most complex issues facing the international criminal justice system today.
