The REAL FAO Experience
Welcome to the Global Model FAO jointly organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) at FAO Headquarters in Rome.
The Global Model FAO will bring an accurate simulation of multilateral negotiations and decision-making processes related to food security, agriculture, sustainable development, and rural transformation to high school and university students from all over the world. The program will feature the WIMUN approach, intensive training workshops, and briefings on key global challenges and policy priorities by FAO staff and experts.
The Global Model FAO serves as an entry point for young people worldwide to better understand the work of FAO and the importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing today’s interconnected global food and agricultural challenges.
By creating a fully student-led and authentic GlobalModel FAO experience, participants learn how international policy decisions are negotiated and implemented while addressing some of the most pressing global challenges related to hunger, food insecurity, climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and rural development. Through their participation, students not only deepen their understanding of global issues, but also strengthen leadership, diplomacy, negotiation, public speaking, research, and consensus-building skills.
All topics discussed at the Global Model FAO are based on current priorities and agenda items being addressed by FAO and the broader United Nations system. Delegates participating in the conference will have access to multiple online trainings and preparatory resources to support their engagement before the conference.
