Face Festival International MUN 2025 (FaceMUN)

FaceMUN is a three-day international Model United Nations conference that takes place within the wider Face Festival 2025, a global development and cultural festival hosted in Manchester. FaceMUN is designed to simulate the operations of the United Nations General Assembly and its specialized bodies, empowering young people to engage with pressing global issues and develop diplomatic solutions.

Delegates will take on the roles of world leaders and international diplomats, debating real-world topics and drafting resolutions that address global challenges. Through negotiation, research, and debate, participants will learn how international cooperation happens in practice while sharpening their leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Committees & Topics

  • General Assembly (GA), Security Council (UNSC), Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Commonwealth Council, World Trade Organization (WTO)

Background guides and position paper instructions will be shared with all accepted delegates.

Pre-Conference Training & Activities

Leading up to the conference, we will run Weekly debate clubs 5:30 -7pm  and community prep sessions across Greater Manchester. Delegates will be mentored by experienced Young Creative Leaders (local and international), through hybrid sessions focusing on:

  • Research and diplomacy
  • Position paper writing
  • Speech delivery and negotiation
  • Committee procedures

Special outreach efforts will ensure participation from young people involved in community and youth-led organisations across Greater Manchester.
