Young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but the partners of today.

Baku Youth UN Simulation is an international academic platform designed to empower young people through diplomacy, debate, and global cooperation. Inspired by the words of António Guterres“Young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but the partners of today.” — the conference aims to create a space where youth voices are heard, valued, and transformed into meaningful dialogue.

The simulation brings together motivated students from diverse backgrounds to engage in discussions on pressing global challenges through the framework of the United Nations. Participants develop essential skills such as diplomacy, negotiation, public speaking, and critical thinking while representing different countries and perspectives.

Beyond debate, Baku Youth UN Simulation encourages collaboration, cultural exchange, and the formation of a global network of future leaders. By fostering an environment of mutual respect and intellectual curiosity, the conference seeks to inspire young individuals to actively contribute to solving international issues and shaping a more sustainable and cooperative world.

History of Baku Youth UN Simulation

The origins of Baku Youth UN Simulation (BYUNS) trace back to August 2025, when a group of motivated students sought to create a platform that would empower young people in Azerbaijan through debate, diplomacy, and international dialogue. With the support of Oxbridge Academy, the initiative began to take shape as a youth-led effort aimed at promoting public speaking, critical thinking, and global awareness among students.

The first major step in this journey was the organization of Baku Youth Debate, a student-led debate competition held in early February 2026 in Baku. Thanks to the collaboration with Oxbridge Academy and the dedication of the organizing team, the event successfully brought together around 80 debaters from different schools and academic backgrounds. The competition provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas, develop their argumentation skills, and engage in meaningful discussions on important global and societal issues.

The success of Baku Youth Debate demonstrated the strong interest among young people in Azerbaijan for academic debate and international dialogue. Inspired by this achievement, the founders decided to expand the initiative into a broader platform modeled after the procedures and values of the United Nations. This vision led to the creation of Baku Youth UN Simulation, an event designed to replicate diplomatic negotiations, encourage cooperation between students, and promote youth engagement in global affairs.

Today, Baku Youth UN Simulation continues to grow as a platform dedicated to empowering young leaders, fostering international collaboration, and inspiring the next generation of diplomats and global thinkers.
