Governing AI for Human Development: Innovation, Rights and Resilience

APBSMUN 2027 is a university-level Model United Nations conference in Tunis focused on the global governance of artificial intelligence. Under the theme “Governing AI for Human Development: Innovation, Rights and Resilience,” delegates will represent countries and negotiate practical responses to algorithmic discrimination, generative AI in education, privacy, cybersecurity, misinformation, workforce disruption and unequal access to AI.

Three committees connect policy to students’ fields of study: SOCHUM will address human rights, surveillance and synthetic media; the UNESCO Executive Board will govern generative AI in higher education, academic integrity and future-ready skills; and the ITU Council will consider AI cybersecurity, incident reporting, data governance and international technical standards.

This beginner-friendly conference is designed as applied skills training. Delegates will research national positions, evaluate evidence, prepare a country position paper and AI risk register, map stakeholders, deliver speeches, negotiate coalitions and draft implementable resolutions with safeguards, accountable owners, reporting requirements and review mechanisms. A cross-committee AI incident simulation will require delegates to translate technical risks into diplomatic and governance decisions.

APBSMUN is especially relevant to future professionals in business, technology and law. Participation is free, the working language is English, and pre-conference guidance will support first-time delegates.
