It is a project that gives High School students from all over the world the possibility to play the role of diplomats, representing the opinion of different countries with distinct cultures, customs, beliefs and laws.  At its 5th edition, the conference is taking place from 24th to 27th November 2018, entirely in English. The name CFMUNESCO stands for Cividale del Friuli Model United Nations UNESCO, and represents the link between the local territory and the UNESCO spirit, as it is confirmed by the global theme of the conference, To Protect and Preserve, which inspires all the topics under discussion in the various committees.   THE OBJECTIVES   In line with the other MUN conferences, CFMUNESCO meets the secondary-school students' formative needs, in particular since it: improves international education, empowers soft skills and helps participants choose their future studies. Furthermore, the experience will be important for the students intellectual and human growth.   THE HISTORY   CFMUNESCO Project was created in 2014 <a name="twtargettext"></a>on the initiative of a spontaneous committee of secondary-school students of the Convitto Nazionale, together with some students of the Agricultural Institute of Cividale with many years of experience of MUN conferences abroad. The initiative has immediately met the support of the Senior Management and of the network of Fri.Sa.Li. schools, which have shared the intent to offer to the students of the Convitto and of the network the opportunity to take part in an international activity involving about 300 students coming from both foreign schools  (among the others Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, The Netherlands, Russia, Slovenia e Thailand) and Italian schools (some of them are part of the Fri.Sa.Li network). All activities will be held above all inside the Convitto area and will be backed by local institutions and organisations. The activities will be linked to the recognition of Cividale as World Heritage by UNESCO and the same Convitto Nazionale as part of the UNESCO network of schools. The debate within the UNESCO Committee focuses on issues concerning education, science and culture; more precisely we will discuss about the promotion of sport values and the reduction of risks in schools and UNESCO sites. - The Security Council, a committee of 15 delegates, 5 of which have the veto power during the debates, concerning global urgent problems such as political unrests and conflicts. - The International Conference of Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which is a unique feature of CFMUNESCO, being the only High School students ICRC simulation all over the world. It is managed together with the Italian Red Cross and deals with humanitarian issues; this year we will focus on the displacement due to natural disasters and on the protection of humanitarian volunteers’ safety. - The Historical Committee on Great War, which will simulate the events linked with World War I until the emergence of totalitarian regimes. It will be composed of 20 delegates, who will act the part of real historical leaders and are expected to more closely model the individuals that they are portraying, turning out great diplomatic ability, but also historical and cultural knowledge. - The Commission on the Status of Women, aimed at promoting Women’s rights and value, focusing on reproductive technologies, too. - The World Health Organization, aiming at solving burning disputes concerning health, patients’ rights and procedures.
