    Topic

International Intervention in States Failing to Protect Children’s Rights

    About the committee

Across the world, millions of children face severe violations of their rights due to conflict, weak governance, poverty, and exploitation. In some countries, governments are unable or unwilling to protect children from violence, trafficking, malnutrition, or denial of education. This raises a critical question: when a State fails to safeguard children’s rights, should the international community intervene? Delegates in the UNICEF committee will examine the balance between State sovereignty and the global responsibility to protect children, and explore what forms of intervention are ethical, effective, and appropriate.
