Key Features of the Competition:
Global Participation: Open to all students worldwide, creating a diverse forum for exchanging ideas across borders and cultures.
Debate Topics: Focus on current and pressing global issues such as climate change, human rights, international diplomacy, technology, and global governance. Topics are selected to challenge participants to think critically and propose innovative solutions.
Format: The competition follows a structured debate format modelled after international parliamentary debates, ensuring a fair and rigorous process. Participants will engage in several rounds, including preliminary heats, semi-finals, and finals. This specific debate will use the Asian Parliamentary Debate System.
Topics:
Topics will be distributed 78 hours before the competition to only registered participants to ensure academic integrity. Topics will range from a variety of philosophical, socioeconomic, political, societal, ethical, and moral discussions. Topics will be structured so there is no systemic “always correct” answer. It will depend on the abilities of each team to orate for or against arguments and create persuasive rebuttals.
