VGSMUN’26 — The Third Edition of VidyaGyan Sitapur Model United Nations vgsmun.com

VGSMUN’26 marks the third edition of the VidyaGyan Sitapur Model United Nations, continuing a journey that began in 2024 with a vision to create a rigorous, engaging and intellectually stimulating platform for young minds to deliberate on the questions that shape our world.

Hosted at VidyaGyan School, Sitapur, VGSMUN brings together aspiring diplomats, policymakers, parliamentarians, journalists and changemakers for two days of debate, diplomacy and deliberation.

With the experience of our first two editions behind us, VGSMUN’26 seeks to raise the bar further — through challenging agendas, dynamic committees, immersive simulations and an environment that encourages delegates to move beyond prepared speeches and genuinely engage with opposing perspectives.

At VGSMUN, diplomacy is not merely about speaking. It is about listening, negotiating, strategising and finding common ground. Delegates will be challenged to analyse complex situations, defend their positions, collaborate with others and formulate solutions to pressing national and international issues.

From conventional United Nations committees to specialised parliamentary and crisis simulations, VGSMUN’26 offers delegates the opportunity to experience diplomacy in its many forms. Every committee is designed to test not only knowledge and oratory, but also critical thinking, spontaneity, negotiation and leadership.

The conference is built around three fundamental ideas:

DISCUSS. DEBATE. DETERMINE.

Discuss — Engage with diverse perspectives and understand the complexities behind global and national issues.

Debate — Challenge assumptions, defend your position and engage in meaningful, substantive discourse.

Determine — Move beyond discussion to negotiate, decide and shape outcomes.

VGSMUN’26 is more than a competition for awards. It is a space where young individuals are encouraged to question, reason, collaborate and lead. We believe that the strongest delegates are not necessarily those who speak the most, but those who can think critically, adapt swiftly and contribute meaningfully to the room.

As we enter our third edition, we invite delegates from across the country to be part of a conference that celebrates intellectual curiosity, responsible discourse and the spirit of diplomacy.

Welcome to VGSMUN’26.

Discuss. Debate. Determine.

The Situation in Cuba Following the Deployment of Soviet Nuclear Missiles and its Implications for International Peace and Security Freeze date - 22 October 1962 "In the shadows of secrecy, a ninety-mile stretch of ocean became the world's most dangerous fault line." On the evening of October 22, 1962, President John F. Kennedy disclosed startling intelligence to a terrified global public: the Soviet Union had secretly constructed operational ballistic missile launch sites in Cuba, mere miles from the American mainland. Instituting a naval "quarantine" around the island nation, the United States escalated Cold War brinkmanship to an existential threshold, thrusting the United Nations Security Council into the most dangerous crisis in human history.

Legality of Israel's 2025 Strikes on Natanz: Self-Defence or Violation of State Sovereignty In an increasingly competitive era, multiple nations are racing to achieve rapid development, expand their influence, and strengthen their global standing. The ICJ will deliberate on whether Israel's 2025 strikes on Natanz, Iran's key nuclear facility, and other military targets were legally justified as an act of self-defence — or whether they violated the fundamental principles of State sovereignty and the prohibition on the use of force under international law. Human rights groups and international jurists condemned the strikes as violations of territorial sovereignty, while the debate centred on whether the actions fit the strict interpretations of Article 51 of the UN Charter concerning Israel's right to self-defence. The Court will confront a central dilemma: is future security worth the cost of present devastation?

"If you wish to see the truth, then hold no opinion for or against." The International Press Corps (IPC) at VGSMUN'26 serves as the supreme vanguard of truth, operating entirely outside the conventional architecture of committee debate. In this elite forum, delegates act as independent observers tasked with stripping away diplomatic posturing to lay bare the raw mechanics of statecraft. Through three specialized avenues of expression, individual delegates will drive the narrative as investigative journalists, capture the psychological warfare of the floor as photographers, or unmask systemic contradictions as satirical caricaturists.

Debating the limits and accountability of emergency powers in light of the 42nd and 44th Constitutional Amendments Freeze date - 31 December 1979 The Lok Sabha stands at the crossroads of a republic reckoning with the extraordinary powers exercised during the Emergency. Delegates confront the enduring tension between executive authority and democratic accountability, examining the constitutional transformations brought by the 42nd and 44th Amendments. The 42nd Amendment significantly expanded executive authority, curtailed judicial oversight, and altered the balance between fundamental rights and state power, while the 44th Amendment sought to restore constitutional safeguards and reinforce institutional checks. With the freeze date set to 31 December 1979, delegates must deliberate the permissible limits of emergency powers, the role of Parliament and the judiciary in restraining executive excess, and whether India’s constitutional architecture is resilient enough to safeguard democratic freedoms against the concentration of power.
