Established in 2008, SLMUN is the primary simulation of the United Nations conference in Sri Lanka, and is the pioneer of any MUN related program in the country. It is also one of Asias largest student-run United Nations simulations with over 100 participating schools and 1000+ delegates participating for the annual conference.
The 18th session of the Sri Lanka Model United Nations (SLMUN) conference, which will be held on the 16th and 17th August 2025 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in Colombo. As the largest student-run Model United Nations conference in South Asia, we boast a population of over 1200 youth from across the nation from 70+ institutions, providing them with a platform to engage in critical discussions, develop diplomatic skills, and foster global awareness.
This year, under the theme of “Igniting the Language of Change” we are proud to embrace a new era of inclusivity by encouraging discourse in all 3 National languages: English, Sinhala, and Tamil. As a landmark initiative, a committee focusing on human rights will be conducted in Sinhala/Tamil allowing more voices and perspectives to be represented in our conference.
