The Southeast Asian Economics Project Selangan Model United Nations Conference (SelanganMUN) is a 2-day simulation conference convening secondary and high school students from across the Asia Pacific region as delegates modelled after the processes of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) to deliberate on critical regional economic and developmental challenges.

Bringing together a curated total of under 100 delegates representing diverse national and educational backgrounds, SelanganMUN creates a rigorous yet accessible environment for young students to engage substantively with real-world policy challenges facing the Asia-Pacific region.

Important Dates

  1. February 25, 2026

Official delegate applications open for both the Hybrid (Physical) and Global (Virtual) tracks. Given the rolling basis of country assignments, early applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their forms during this window to secure their top-priority member state choices. All applications at this stage enter the initial background and eligibility review.

  2. March 7 and April 18, 2026

A mandatory preparatory session designed for both novice and experienced delegates. This workshop covers the technicalities of the UN ESCAP Rules of Procedure (ROP), research methodologies for our specific committee topics, and an introduction to the Cengkih Research pipeline. This ensures all participants meet the academic standards required for substantive policy deliberation

  3. May 17, 2026

The standard application window concludes. At this stage, the majority of high-priority country assignments are finalized. Applications received after this date move into the Late Registration pool, where country options become more limited as the committee rosters reach capacity.

  4. May 26, 2026

The final cutoff for all delegate applications. Beyond this date, no further submissions will be accepted to allow the Secretariat to finalize the delegate handbook, committee allocations, and the logistics for the Cengkih Research repository integration. All confirmed delegates will receive their final briefing materials.

  5. May 30, 2026

SelanganMUN 2026 officially begins. Delegates will convene for two days of rigorous debate, negotiation, and resolution drafting. The conference will open with the Keynote Address, followed by the first session of committee proceedings, where delegates begin translating their research into actionable regional policy.
