This MUN Defence Meeting simulation will explore the potential creation of a new multinational military alliance - the Sovereign Defence Alliance of Europe (SDAE) - as a potential alternative to existing transatlantic security frameworks led by the US and operationalised in the form of NATO.
Unlike NATO, which operates under a transatlantic structure, SDAE would be a European-led initiative, open to but not limited to EU and NATO member states. This proposed alliance aims to enhance regional security, strategic autonomy, and collective defence cooperation without reliance on external powers. The key challenge participating nations and their representative countries will be negotiating the foundation of this alliance while balancing national interests, security commitments, and political alignments.
The outcome of this simulation will be a negotiated framework reflecting the collective vision of participant nations. The final decision will represent the principles, commitments, and potential operational mechanisms of SDAE member states.
