Although Oxford Schools’ Debating Competition is not a MUN conference, participants are usually students who often take part in MUN and public speaking activities.

🟩 Presentation:

Oxford Schools is the international debating competition organized by The Oxford Union and Oxford University. 

The opportunity is brought to Switzerland by The Debate, Eloquence & Rhetoric Society who administrates the competition at the national level. 

Oxford Schools' is one of the largest and most prestigious debating competitions in the world. It takes place in two stages:

  1. A National Round
  2. An international final at The Oxford Union, gathering the best performers of all National Rounds worldwide
     

The National Round in Switzerland is open to high schoolers from all over the country. National Rounds of Oxford Schools are known to be a unique experience and an opportunity to learn valuable skills, meet new people, and learn in an engaging environment. 

The top-performing students from the National Round will qualify to represent Switzerland for the first time at International Finals. These will take place at the Oxford Union on 14 March 2026.

Both experienced and novice debaters aged 14-18 are encouraged to take part in the National Round.

🟩 National Round Details:

Date: Saturday 31 January 2026

Location: University of Geneva 

Participation fee

There is a standard participation fee of 60 CHF per student. 

You will receive payment information after your registration is confirmed. 

Recognition: Certificates of participation from Oxford Schools’ and The DER Society will be given to all participants

Debating format: British Parliamentary. Workshops will be provided to participants to get them familiar with it

Participation is in teams of 2 students. You can sign up with a teammate, or individually in which case we will find a teammate for you

The National Round’s capacity is limited, and registrations submitted earlier are  given priority until all slots are filled. The registration form will remain open until all slots are filled.
