Orbitum is a space-policy focused Model United Nations conference built around realism, diplomacy, and strategic depth. Our committees are designed to simulate the scientific, legal, and geopolitical dimensions of outer space governance.

This is not a decorative space theme. It is a structured orbital simulation.

🌌 Committees

1. International Astronomical Union (IAU)

Agenda: Planetary Defense Coordination and Standardization of Global Space Observation Protocols

A technical committee focused on astronomy governance, near-Earth object mitigation, and scientific cooperation. Delegates must balance scientific integrity with geopolitical interests.

2. United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA)

Agenda: Regulating Militarization and Commercial Expansion in Low Earth Orbit

A policy-driven committee addressing space debris, private actors, satellite congestion, and the legal frameworks shaping the future of orbital activity.

3. Bilateral Ministries Forum (Crisis Simulation)

Agenda: Strategic Control and Cooperative Governance of the International Space Station

Each country delegation consists of:

• Minister of Defence
• Minister of Space / Science
• Minister of Foreign Affairs

This committee operates as a real-time diplomatic simulation. Countries may form blocs, negotiate alliances, establish joint missions, or escalate tensions. Strategic coordination between ministries is essential.

4. ISS Joint Command (Crisis Committee)

Agenda: Emergency Governance and Operational Stability of the International Space Station

Agencies and stakeholders will respond to evolving crises including technical failures, political disputes, and security concerns. Decisions must be realistic, timely, and operationally feasible.

5. Orbital Security Council (Crisis Committee)

Agenda: The Weaponization of Space and Anti-Satellite Warfare
