About the committee

The European world has been shaken by the 21st century. Threats emerge from everywhere: Russia invades Ukraine, China poses serious economic threats, the U.S.A. are no longer a reliable partner for Europe. From within, both eurosceptic left-wing and right-wing parties emerge in countries like France, Spain, and Germany. That being said, the european instutions, led by the European Council, are urged to find a way for Europe to endure the demographic chaos, the shadow of war, the economic instability, the political turmoil, the mistrust of population, and the institutional havoc. Europe’s delegates must win to take it all, otherwise, Europe will fall and give its throne to new powers from East and West. How far will a leader willing to do whatever it takes to stay in power go? Is it justifiable to persecute, torture and tear apart families under the banner of national interest? These and other questions should guide the debate at the International Criminal Court of the 3rd IJBMUN, which will judge the actions of Chinese leader Xi Jiping, accused by the international press of undermining democracy in Hong Kong, persecuting dissidents, torturing, imprisoning and attempting to destroy the culture of Tibetans and Uighurs, supporting dictatorial regimes in Asia and Africa and building a ghost fleet of fishing boats, willing to fish even in the Galapagos Islands. If found guilty, what punishment should be given? How should it be carried out? This will only be answered by the prosecution and the defense in this 3rd edition of IJBMUN. The Amazon still plays a very important ecological, political and economic role not only for Latin America, but for the world. Its more than 30 million inhabitants find themselves at the crossroads of the need for economic growth and the growing pressure for sustainability. Thus, within the framework of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change - COP 30, Belém do Pará will become the stage for dispute and consensus among nations, in a committee marked by the dichotomy: voracious economic growth, necessary in the context of widespread poverty in the region, or conservation of the forest, marked by grandiose empty promises from rich nations. In a context of voracious industrial expansion, paced by the five-year plans, the Soviet Union developed a unique prison system, the gulags. However, with the end of World War II and the fall of Stalin, it faced a shock that would shake its economic structure: the gulag revolt. Therefore, in this war cabinet, the delegates will have the opportunity to represent both those who opposed the abuses of the Stalinist regime and proposed seeking reforms, and those who fought tooth and nail to protect the spinal cord of Soviet traditions.
