Have you ever wished MUNs were longer? Have you ever dreamed of spending summer in Lisbon? Do you want to pursue a career in international relations, diplomacy or any field related to the United Nations? If yes, we have an amazing opportunity for you!

LisboMUN Association is happy to announce the first edition of an innovative concept of Model United Nations: the Global Young Leaders Summer Academy (GYLSA) in partnership with NOVA School of Business Economics, Nova Politics Club, and NOVA Debate Club.

The program has three main pillars: academic, MUN and social. For two weeks, you and students from around the world will have the opportunity to enjoy exciting lessons by experienced professionals and scholars and also put their knowledge into practice. The program will intensively train you in all areas related to the United Nations, such as diplomacy, peace and security, sustainability, international law, international relations. Our workshops will also prepare you for your future career. All of this will be offered to you at the beautiful campus of Nova SBE in Carcavelos/Lisbon, right in front of the beach, where you can enjoy the Portuguese summer and its beautiful sunsets! Finally, the program will also offer cultural programming, networking opportunities, and unforgettable evening events, such as an open bar gala, an unforgettable boat party, a fancy networking cocktail, and many others.

This year, our conference theme will be Sustainable Development Goal 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

Program Structure -

Academic Week (18/07 – 22/07): The first week will be exclusively dedicated to lectures and workshops in all topics related to the United Nations. You will have different lectures each day, delivered by some of the most experienced professionals in the international landscape today: diplomats, professors, UN employees and much more! You will also take part in exciting workshops that aim at improving soft skills such as negotiation, public speaking and leadership.

MUN Week (25/07 – 29/07): The second week will be dedicated to an in-depth Model United Nations simulation where you can put all the knowledge obtained during the first week into practice, debating some of the most pressing topics on the international agenda today. You will act as a representative of a country or NGO in one of our 4 committees and should sustain the position of the country you represent throughout the debate, with the final goal of approving an effective resolution.

Evening events (every day after sessions): Our team has been carefully planning a number of fun social events where you will get an opportunity to meet the other participants that come from all over the world. Every day after the session you may join a different social night that will vary from chill sunset parties and game nights to a boat party and an open bar gala! During the weekend, we will also offer some extra packages for those who want to take a surfing class, go on a walking tour around the most important sites in Lisbon or take a day trip to another Portuguese destination.

 

Fees –

Our application fees will include the entire program structure (description below) and should be paid as soon as your application is accepted. No further fees will be applicable unless you wish to purchase extra packages.

Delegate fee, Delegation Fee (per delegate): 150 € (Early Birds), 170 € (Regular Applications)

Discount of 15% for LisboMUN Associates and of 10% for Nova Politics Club and Nova Debate Club members.
