    About the committee

Main Agenda: “Promoting Gender Equality through Policy, Protection, and Participation” Sub-Agenda 1: Combating Gender-Based Violence in Conflict Zones Description: This sub-agenda addresses the alarming rise in gender-based violence (GBV) during armed conflicts and political instability. Delegates will explore frameworks for international cooperation, legal protections for survivors, and enforcement mechanisms to prevent sexual violence, trafficking, and exploitation of women and girls in fragile and conflict-affected settings. --- Sub-Agenda 2: Advancing Women’s Economic Empowerment Post-Pandemic Description: The COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately affected women’s participation in the workforce. This sub-agenda focuses on ensuring equal pay, supporting women-led businesses, improving access to financial resources, and formalizing informal labor sectors where women are overrepresented. --- Sub-Agenda 3: Strengthening Women’s Representation in Political and Leadership Roles Description: Despite progress, women remain underrepresented in policymaking, diplomacy, and executive positions globally. This topic explores strategies to achieve gender parity in governance, enforce quotas where necessary, and eliminate cultural, social, and institutional barriers to female leadership.

    About the committee

UNICEF Committee Agenda: “Ensuring the Protection and Welfare of Children Amid Armed Conflicts and Humanitarian Crises” Here are three powerful sub-agendas under the main UNICEF committee agenda: “Ensuring the Protection and Welfare of Children Amid Armed Conflicts and Humanitarian Crises” — with detailed descriptions for each: Sub-Agenda 1: Preventing and Responding to Grave Violations Against Children in Armed Conflict Description: In many ongoing conflicts, children are subjected to grave violations such as killing, maiming, abduction, and use in combat. This sub-agenda focuses on enforcing international humanitarian law, strengthening the UN Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism (MRM), demobilizing child soldiers, and holding perpetrators accountable. Delegates will also explore how UNICEF can partner with local governments to create child-protection zones and emergency care frameworks. Sub-Agenda 2: Addressing the Rights and Needs of Refugee and Internally Displaced Children Description: Wars in regions like Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan, and Syria have displaced millions of children, leaving them vulnerable to trafficking, exploitation, and long-term trauma. This sub-agenda emphasizes coordinated international response to provide displaced children with food, shelter, access to healthcare and education, and legal documentation. Focus will also be placed on family reunification and psychosocial support programs in refugee camps and host countries. Sub-Agenda 3: Restoring Access to Education and Psychological Support in Conflict-Affected Regions Description: War disrupts not just infrastructure but the emotional and intellectual development of children. This sub-agenda discusses restoring education systems in conflict and post-conflict zones, including the provision of temporary learning spaces, remote education models, training for teachers in trauma-sensitive pedagogy, and mental health support services. Delegates will also address how to protect schools from military use under the Safe Schools Declaration.

    1. Topic 1: Economic Empowerment of Women in Post-Conflict Recovery Description: In the aftermath of armed conflicts, women often bear the brunt of economic devastation — facing job loss, poverty, and social exclusion. Yet, they are also powerful agents of change in rebuilding war-torn societies. This agenda focuses on implementing gender-responsive economic recovery plans that provide women with access to microfinance, education, land rights, entrepreneurship training, and participation in public works. Delegates will explore international cooperation frameworks to ensure women are not sidelined in reconstruction but are supported as central actors in achieving long-term peace and sustainable development.
    2. --- Topic 2: Protecting Women from Gender-Based Violence in Armed Conflicts Description: Armed conflicts heighten the risk of gender-based violence (GBV), including rape, forced marriage, sexual slavery, and trafficking. These crimes often go unpunished due to the breakdown of legal systems and persistent stigma. This topic explores how ECOSOC can work with governments, NGOs, and international bodies to strengthen legal protections, support survivors with healthcare and psychosocial services, and implement accountability mechanisms. Delegates will also examine how to integrate anti-GBV strategies into humanitarian responses and post-conflict development plans.
    3. --- Topic 3: Women's Participation in Peace Processes and Governance Description: Women are often excluded from formal peace negotiations, despite the proven fact that their involvement leads to more sustainable and inclusive peace agreements. This sub-agenda addresses the critical need for women’s representation in post-conflict governance, peace talks, and decision-making processes. Delegates will explore the impact of women’s leadership on peacebuilding, the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, and strategies to increase female participation in the political sphere. The discussion will also focus on overcoming barriers such as cultural norms, gender discrimination, and the lack of political will to ensure that women are active players in shaping the future of their countries after conflict.

    About the committee

ECOSOC Agenda: “Empowering Women in Conflict-Affected Areas: Economic Recovery, Rights, and Resilience” --- Sub-Agenda 1: Economic Empowerment of Women in Post-Conflict Recovery Description: Armed conflicts severely disrupt women’s access to livelihoods and deepen gender inequalities. This sub-agenda focuses on creating economic opportunities for women in post-conflict settings through access to credit, vocational training, inclusive rebuilding programs, and gender-responsive budgeting. Delegates will explore how to ensure women are not just victims but agents of economic recovery and peacebuilding. --- Sub-Agenda 2: Protecting Women from Gender-Based Violence During and After Conflicts Description: Sexual violence is systematically used in wars as a weapon of control and trauma. This topic explores the need for stronger international legal enforcement, survivor support systems, healthcare access, justice mechanisms, and rehabilitation programs — especially in countries like Sudan, DRC, Myanmar, and Gaza. --- Sub-Agenda 3: Women's Participation in Peace Processes and Governance Description: Despite UN Security Council Resolution 1325, women remain underrepresented in peace talks and decision-making in post-conflict governance. This sub-agenda pushes for stronger female leadership in peace negotiations, reconstruction efforts, transitional governments, and ECOSOC-sponsored development plans, ensuring that women's voices shape sustainable peace.
