About the committee

The United Nations Security Council is the UN's most authoritative body, entrusted with the maintenance of international peace and security under the UN Charter. Comprising 15 member states,including five permanent members with veto power (China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States),the Council possesses the unique capacity to adopt binding resolutions. It addresses global crises through diplomatic negotiations, sanctions, peacekeeping operations, and the authorization of military intervention when necessary. With its decisions shaping the geopolitical landscape, the UNSC stands at the forefront of international law, conflict resolution, and multilateral diplomacy.
