From stadiums to screens: redefining what it means to play the game.
🌍 Conference Theme: “Real Sports vs. Esports”
Sports have always been a universal language, bringing together people across cultures, countries, and generations. In recent years, however, the rise of Esports—organized, competitive video gaming—has redefined how society views “athletes” and “sports.” With millions of viewers, billion-dollar sponsorships, and even professional leagues, esports has grown into a phenomenon rivaling traditional sports.
This committee will focus on debating the future of sports in the 21st century, examining whether esports should be considered on par with real sports, or if the essence of physicality and athleticism remains unmatched.
Delegates will explore:
- 🏅 Recognition & Legitimacy: Should esports be officially classified as sports? Can they coexist with traditional sports, or will they rival them in the future?
- ⚖️ Social & Health Impacts: Are esports inclusive and globally accessible, or do they promote sedentary lifestyles? Do real sports provide irreplaceable mental and physical benefits?
- đź’° Economics & Global Growth: With esports attracting major sponsorships and growing at an unprecedented rate, will it surpass traditional sports in revenue, viewership, and popularity?
The debate will push delegates to analyze, compare, and forecast the role of both real sports and esports in modern society.
🎯 Objectives of the Committee
- To critically assess the definition of sports in a changing world.
- To discuss the positive and negative impacts of esports and real sports on individuals and societies.
- To consider the future of global competitions—from the Olympics to international esports leagues.
🗣️ Possible Outcomes
- Resolutions on whether esports should be recognized at the same level as real sports.
- Proposals for a balanced integration of both in future educational and global sports programs.
- Innovative ideas on how governments, organizations, and communities can promote healthy engagement in both fields.
