About

Debating Democracy, Shaping Legislation.

Welcome to the Lok Sabha Committee of The Bharat MUN, a platform designed to simulate the vibrant and dynamic proceedings of the Indian Parliament. This year’s agenda is “Deliberation on the Passing of the Waqf Bill.”

The committee will replicate the structure, procedures, and political environment of the Lok Sabha, providing delegates with the opportunity to step into the shoes of Members of Parliament. Participants will engage in passionate debates, negotiate across party lines, and critically analyze the social, political, and legal dimensions of the Waqf Bill.

This simulation aims to help delegates understand the complexities of Indian legislative processes, the balance between tradition and reform, and the challenges of policymaking in a diverse democracy. With a focus on collaboration, research, and realism, the Lok Sabha Committee will provide an immersive parliamentary experience that combines sharp debate with the responsibility of shaping impactful decisions.

Join us for an engaging session where every voice matters, and every argument can shape the outcome of history.

    About the committee

The committee will deliberate on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which seeks to reform the management and regulation of Waqf properties in India. The Bill has raised significant debate, with proponents arguing for greater transparency, accountability, and modernization of Waqf boards, while opponents highlight concerns over minority rights, community autonomy, and government overreach. As members of the Lok Sabha, delegates will step into the shoes of parliamentarians to debate the Bill clause by clause, considering its legal, social, and political implications. The discussion will reflect the diversity of opinions within Indian politics — from ruling party perspectives seeking reform, to opposition concerns about safeguarding constitutional rights and secularism. The aim of this simulation is not just to pass or reject the Bill, but to critically engage with its broader impact on religious freedom, property rights, and democratic governance in India. Delegates must build alliances, negotiate across party lines, and navigate the complexities of parliamentary democracy in shaping the outcome.
