About the committee

Also known as the First Committee, Disarmament and International Security. The First Committee deals with disarmament, global challenges and threats to peace that affect the international community and seeks out solutions to the challenges in the international security regime.

About the committee

Legal Committee (Sixth Committee). This Assembly is allocated agenda items related to legal matters. Delegates will have to discuss how things can be organized in the best way while looking at how the (international) law allows that.

About the committee

The General Assembly allocates to the Third Committee, agenda items relating to a range of social, humanitarian affairs and human rights issues that affect people all over the world. As in previous sessions, an important part of the work of the Committee will focus on the examination of human rights questions, including reports of the special procedures of the Human Rights Council which was established in 2006.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. UNESCO will be a dual delegation committee at FAMUN 2025!

About the committee

UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. This Committee supports UN Member States as they set global standards for achieving gender equality, and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes and services needed to ensure that the standards are effectively implemented and truly benefit women and girls worldwide.

About the committee

UNICEF is responsible for the long-term needs of children and women in all developing countries. First founded to provide healthcare for children and women in countries devastated by the Second World War, UNICEF has since expanded internationally. UNICEF will be a dual delegation committee at FAMUN 2025!

About the committee

The United Nations Human Rights Council is a United Nations body whose mission is to promote and protect human rights around the world. The Council investigates allegations of breaches of human rights in United Nations member states and addresses thematic human rights issues like freedom of association and assembly, freedom of expression, freedom of belief and religion, women’s rights, LGBT rights, and the rights of racial and ethnic minorities.

A part of the United Nations that deals with major health issues around the world. The World Health Organization sets standards for disease control, health care, and medicines; conducts education and research programs; and publishes scientific papers and reports. A major goal is to improve access to healthcare for people in developing countries and in groups who do not get good healthcare.

For two decades, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has been helping make the world safer from drugs, organized crime, corruption and terrorism. This committee is committed to achieving health, security and justice for all by tackling these threats and promoting peace and sustainable well-being as deterrents to them.

The Historical Council has been a success at FAMUN for several years, in which delegates dive deep into past events, seeking to preserve and promote interest in the history. This committee serves as a great way to analyse past decisions made, and investigate manners in which escalation could — can be prevented.

About the committee

The UN Security Council seeks to address threats to international security. Its five permanent members, chosen in the wake of World War II, have veto power. The Security Council fosters negotiations, imposes sanctions, and authorizes the use of force, including the deployment of peacekeeping missions.

About the committee

During FAMUN 2025 we will have a unique experience, a mock debate organised for the MUN-directors. This event will offer the unique opportunity to step into the role of a delegate, just like the students. It’s a chance to showcase the MUN skills and knowledge they have accumulated over the years. We will have a variety of topics to choose from that will all be related to education. This mock debate will be a chance to connect with fellow MUN directors from around the world, and a chance to see how much the opinions and approaches differentiate. We encourage all MUN directors to participate in this unique experience, as their involvement will contribute enormously to the debate, making it a truly memorable part of FAMUN 2025. Just like in a real committee a Best Delegate will be chosen by the chairs.

The Council of the EU is responsible for the discussion, amendments and adoptions of all European laws. Next to this, the Council of the European Union also has the budgetary task as well as policy-determining and coordinating tasks.
