Tips for your application
We want your application to succeed. Here’s how to make it stand out:
1. Start with the right mindset
You’re not applying to a corporation. You’re applying to a small, international, passionate team that genuinely cares about MUN and the people in it. So:
- Keep it human
- Be honest and clear
- Think about the person reading your application, not just the job description
2. Help us say yes
Think about what would make you say yes if you were reviewing applications. Strong applications usually:
- Answer all the questions we asked
- Make it easy to understand how your experience fits the role
- Save us the need to follow up for missing info
Use the “What we’re looking for” section like a checklist — not to tick every box (you won’t, and that’s fine), but to help us see clearly what fits. And if you bring strengths we didn’t list, tell us. We want to be surprised.
3. Show your creativity early
You don’t need to wait until Round 2 to show creative thinking. The tone, structure, or even format of your written application can already reflect how you approach ideas. Thoughtful layout, smart wording, even subtle humour can go a long way.
4. Use GPT – but use it smartly
Yes, you can use GPT to support your application. You’ll probably use it in this job too. But:
- Write your own version first, then ask GPT to review or refine it
- Read the result carefully — does it actually sound like you?
- GPT can’t fake your portfolio or references, so make sure they match the tone of your application
- When in doubt, ask a friend, parent, or mentor to read it and check if it feels authentic
5. Design matters – especially here
This is a creative role. The way your application looks says a lot. That includes your CV, your portfolio, and even how your answers are presented.
- Use clean layouts and formatting that help us focus on the content
- Let visuals support your story, not distract from it
- Check out our website and socials — that’s our visual language. You don’t need to copy it, but it might inspire you
- Often, less is more
