DMUN Moot Court 2025

  • What is DMUN Moot Court?
A unique, international legal simulation hosted by the DMUN Foundation, where participants act as legal professionals—advocates, counsels, and judges—in simulated proceedings of international courts. The Moot Court challenges participants to engage in rigorous legal reasoning, advocacy, and the application of international law in a competitive yet collaborative environment.

  • Conference Dates:
    June 28 - 29, 2025

  • What is Being Simulated?
Participants will engage in realistic simulations of the following five renowned international judicial bodies:
    • International Court of Justice (ICJ)
      • The principal judicial organ of the United Nations.
      • Simulates inter-state legal disputes involving sovereignty, treaty law, use of force, and other core areas of public international law.
    • International Criminal Court (ICC)
      • Tries individuals for crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression.
      • Participants take on roles as prosecution, defense counsel, or judges in cases reflecting the most serious crimes under international law.
    • International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY)
      • A historical ad hoc tribunal focusing on war crimes committed during the Yugoslav Wars.
      • Participants examine precedent-setting international criminal jurisprudence in a post-conflict justice setting.
    • International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS)
      • Handles disputes relating to maritime law under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
      • Simulates complex cases involving exclusive economic zones (EEZs), territorial waters, maritime boundaries, and resource rights.

  • Conference Highlights:
    • Rigorous simulation of international court proceedings, including:
      • Submission of memorials (written pleadings)
      • Oral advocacy and rebuttals before a judicial panel
      • Judicial deliberation and drafting of judgments
    • Real-world inspired case problems designed to test legal reasoning and advocacy skills.
    • Structured evaluation and feedback by legal experts, adjudicators, and senior participants.
