The University of Central Asia Model United Nations (UCAMUN I) in Khorog, is a learning platform where students enhance personal and professional skills while experiencing cultural and social diversity. The University of Central Asia (UCA) was founded in 2000 as a private, not for profit, secular university through an International Treaty signed by the Presidents of the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan, and His Highness the Aga Khan; ratified by their respective parliaments and registered with the United Nations. The University of Central Asia is a world class centre for knowledge and learning, connecting isolated rural communities with the global community and building the human capital which is necessary for sustainable economic development. UCA aims to be a driver of development, fostering an intellectual transformation.

As part of common mission and long-term vision of a diverse, multi-country knowledge hub that celebrates the strength of Central and South Asia, UCAMUN I will serve to educate and build connections among the youth for stable world. That way we will ensure that youth are playing an active role in preventing conflicts and building peaceful connection among the states for future collaboration. UCAMUN I therefore welcomes enthusiastic young community leaders to create peaceful co-existence within and beyond Central Asian states that is essential in nowadays inclusive society.

Khorog, where one of UCA campuses is located, is a town in Gorno-Badakhshan region, and the only city in Pamir. The Pamir highway branches out: the northern road goes along a deep mountain gorge straight to Murgab, and the southern one leads to the Vakhan corridor, the most picturesque part of the road, where historical monuments and picturesque villages have been preserved. Through the high mountain of Pamir, the history laid out the vital trade route the Silk Road. Once the heart of the Silk Road linking Europe, South and East Asia, Central Asia remains strategically important. It has diverse historical and cultural traditions of scientific discovery, music, philosophy, storytelling and art. The Silk Route once connecting the people in the past will connect them again in the upcoming conference of UCAMUN I to address the world issues while discovering the natural beauty, amazing climate and cultural diversity of the region.
