A new and exciting year brings with it the anticipation of the fourth edition of SIBM MUN (Model United Nations), organised by the International Relations Committee of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bengaluru. This is to be conducted on the 19th and 20Th of January, 2019. MUN essentially seeks to enlighten young participants to arrive at diplomatic conclusions, through thorough discussion of current global matters all under the ambit of an academic simulation.
Here at SIBM Bengaluru, we seek to encourage two wholesome days, thoroughly packed with insightful and heated debate, concerning matters of extreme global concern in true diplomatic fashion. These discussions would take place under the following four councils: The General Assembly, The Security Council, The Economic and Financial Affairs Council and The International Atomic Energy Agency.
Through the process of assuming the roles of UN representatives, members of international bodies and national cabinets, the delegates would receive the opportunity to gain experience in dealing with problems that include a complex set of political, economic, humanitarian and security issues associated with them. These would be the very set of problems that world leaders seek to find solutions to. It provides them with the required insight to handle extremely sensitive issues in a manner most diplomatic, yet seeking viable and practical solutions.
In addition it would enable delegates to associate with other dynamic and passionate individuals and thus work together through sharing views and ideas to develop solutions and draft resolutions in response to these global issues. It provides a platform for participants to hone their skills in working with others and their potential to both convince as well as freely accept ideas and views and thus master their abilities in the art of diplomatic relations. The participant, the executive panel considers being the most contributing is given the β€˜Best Delegate Award’.
