Welcome to MLSMUN IV.

Allow us to explain what exactly we will be doing in MLSMUN IV. Let us start with the sessions. After registering and being assigned their council, delegates will attend the first session on Sunday the 3rd of March. These sessions will continue until Wednesday the 6th of March on the MLS campus from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM. In these sessions, delegates will be trained on several soft skills such as presentation skills, research, public speaking , and improvisation. They will also be taught more about the United Nations, the council they are in and the topic being discussed. MLSMUN assures that these sessions will be extremely beneficial to the delegates when the conference comes, as it will help them perform better. Of course, all four sessions will include food and drink which is part of the fee.

As for the conference days, they will be on Friday the 8th of March and Saturday the 9th of March. This year in MLSMUN, each council promises to deliver enticing and heated debates that are sure to give delegates the experience they expect, allowing delegates to dive into pressing matters currently occurring in the world. Going bigger than we ever have, this year delegates will have the option of participating in 1 of 5 councils. The Councils this year will be:

International Court of Justice which will be discussing the Israeli and Palestinian conflict.

United Nations Security Council which will be discussing Illegal weapons trade.

Economic and Social Council which will be discussing Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Development.

United Nations General Assembly which will be discussing immigration in Latin America.

United Nations Human Rights Council which will be discussing the genocide in Congo.

In MLSMUN, we pride ourselves on delivering a great MUN experience, alongside a comfortable environment. From the training to sessions to the conference, we will ensure that delegates feel welcomed and comfortable no matter what. UNGA (General Assembly) is one of the six main organs.It is responsible for making the key decisions for the UN, and it provides a place for countries to discuss the full spectrum of international issues, and it has its own six main committees. This years topic is immigration, people immigrate from one country to another permanently, impacting the country’s society, security and economy.

Human rights council

The United Nations Human rights council was founded in 2006 by the General assembly, it is the main intergovernmental body within the UN that's responsible for protecting and promoting human rights around the globe. Which is why the silent genocide in Congo is heavily related to the council. UNHRC is made up of 47 member states, including most powerful countries. Resolutions in UNHRC are mainly devoted to help humans and keep their rights in check.

The security council is a vital organ in the UN that’s responsible for maintaining international peace and security. It has 15 member countries, including 5 permanent ones with veto powers. it gathers to address pressing and controversial global issues threatening international security. This time, we are gathered to confront the threat of arms trafficking and illicit weapons spread. As nations struggle with the destabilizing effects of arms trafficking.

ECOSOC addresses global social and economic issues, fostering cooperation to find solutions for a better world. The Economic and Social Councils role is to promote higher standards of living, full employment, and economic and social progress. This year, we'll be focusing on AI and sustainable development, while working with delegates on some valuable soft skills and giving them bright insights about the topic.
