GWAMUN 2023

GEMS World Academy – Dubai Model United Nations (MUN) is a conference hosted by GWA where students across the UAE have the opportunity to participate as delegates in a simulated model of the United Nations. During the course of the event, students discuss the most significant dilemmas facing the world today and aim to develop innovative solutions to mitigate these pertinent crises. Our goal for GEMS World Academy – Dubai MUN is for participants to broaden their horizons of knowledge within the realm of global politics through fruitful debate, collaboration, and conflict resolution.

The topics of discussion enable students to explore various lenses of politics by examining the status of issues that characterize our present day world order. Some examples of topics delegates will explore include nuclear disarmament, response to mass corruption, the colonization of space, and the mitigation of the ramifications of the global energy crisis.

The core philosophy behind our MUN conference is sprouted from the understanding that the problems of today will need to be faced by the generations of tomorrow. Thus, it is our intention that youth are best prepared to tackle the challenges the future may hold.

At GWAMUN, we are honored that former United Nations Secretary General His Excellency Ban Ki-Moon has been appointed as an ambassador of the MUN across all GEMS schools, and attended our MUN conferences in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
​
Ultimately, it is important to stress that fostering youth engagement in global issues is at the heart of our MUN program at the GEMS World Academy – Dubai MUN. We are extremely committed to encouraging all participants to partake in such events, as we believe that MUN provides students with the pivotal opportunity to become more informed global citizens. We hope that this simulated collaboration between the nations of the world at GWAMUN 2023 can spur meaningful action, dialogue, and development amongst the youth.
