Second Session of the Sustainability Forum of the DMUN Foundation
Empowering Sustainable Futures: DMUN Foundation Sustainability Forum 2025
CONCEPT NOTE
I. Background
The DMUN Foundation Sustainability Forum 2025 emerges at a critical juncture in global development, where environmental degradation, social inequities, and economic instabilities are increasingly interlinked with the impacts of climate change and rapid urbanization. Many nations—especially those in developing regions—are grappling with significant capacity gaps in implementing sustainable practices and transitioning toward greener economies. In response to calls for enhanced support from various governments and communities, this forum is designed to address these challenges by creating a dynamic platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange. Drawing on lessons learned from past initiatives and aligning with intergovernmental mandates for sustainable development, the forum seeks to catalyze transformative action that bridges local needs with global best practices.
II. Relationship to the Sustainable Development Goals
Building on the strategic groundwork laid during the 2016-2017 period, the forum reinforces and expands the original framework’s focus on sustainable policy development and capacity building. By aligning its activities with the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly those related to environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and social inclusion—the forum will adapt proven methodologies to contemporary challenges. This alignment ensures that the discussions and outcomes not only reflect the lessons of past experiences but also directly contribute to the international agenda for a more sustainable future.
